Etsy shop紹介：Cleaner Science

　久々のEtsy shop紹介。本日は、ペトリ皿に入ったユニークな石鹸を作っている、Cleaner Science。サルモネラ菌や、大腸菌などのバクテリアを培養したようなデザインで（笑）、色も美しいグリセリン・ソープの数々に心を奪われた。


1.　簡単な自己紹介をお願いします。

Hi there! My name is Sara, and I’m originally from Houston, TX but have recently moved to Dallas, TX. I am currently a doctorate of pharmacy student, who has been making these soaps for the past 2+ years.

こんにちは、セーラといいます。もともとテキサス州ヒューストンの出身ですが、最近ダラスに引っ越しました。現在は、薬剤学の博士課程の学生です。石鹸は、2年以上前に作り始めました。


2.　アーティストになられたきっかけは？

I have always been interested in art since I was very young, and so I have always been creating things since I can remember. The idea for these petri dish soaps sort of just popped into my head one day, and after looking online and realizing no one made them yet, I figured I should get started!

幼いころからアートに関心があり、物心ついたときには何かしら作っていました。ペトリ皿に入った石鹸のアイディアは、ある日ポッと頭に浮かび、ネットをチェックして、まだ誰も作っていないことを知り、早速作らねばと思ったのです。


3.　これまでの作品の中で、もっとも気に入っておられるのは？

As far as petri dish soaps, I loved this one custom order soap that was shaped like the earth. It also glowed in the dark, making it even cooler. I just love being able to turn ideas into something physical and tangible.

ペトリ皿石鹸に限定すれば、この地球のデザインをのカスタム石鹸がとても気に入っています。
暗闇で光るところも、クールだったんです。こうしてアイディアを形にしていけることが、本当に楽しい。





4.　お好きなアーティストは？

I don’t think I necessarily could call anyone my ‘favorite’ at the moment. There are always very interesting artists I come across all the time, and I just can’t bring myself to favor one over the other. They’re all very different and special, and so it’s kind of like comparing apples to oranges, so to say.

「一番好きなアーティスト」と呼べる人は、必ずしもいません。
日々興味深いアーティストに遭遇しているため、誰が他よりも優れているかなんて、とても言えません。それぞれに違っていて、特別で、アーティストを比較することは、いわばりんごとオレンジを比較するようなもの（まったく異なる性質を持つもの同士を無理に比較しようとすること）だと思います。




5.　幸せな気持ちにしてくれるものを5つあげてください。

My family.
My two dogs, Diddle and Rico. I don’t know what I would do without these two goof balls.
Science and healthcare in general. The technology we have out there is really amazing.
Creating and art, whether it is music, tangible art, or whatever. I believe it makes the world go around.
Traveling and meeting new people.

家族。
二匹の犬たち、ディドルとリーコ。このおまぬけさんたちがいなかったら生きていけません。
科学・医学全般。今日のテクノロジーには目を見張るものがあります。
アートを作ること。音楽であれ、有形の芸術であれ、アートのお陰で、世の中が回っていると思っています。
旅をして、新しい人々に出会うこと。
