Etsy shop紹介： Mary Foster

本日ご紹介するのは、ミネソタ在住の写真家、Mary Fosterさんのショップ。
ピンクのアマリリスなど、花の写真がとにかく美しい。


(1) 自己紹介をお願いします。

My name is Mary Foster. I photograph my garden flowers and plants, creating macro images that explore form, light, and color while finding exquisite details. I also crochet and am fascinated by the colors and textures of yarn and the ways that a few simple stitches can be combined to create beautiful and functional objects. My flower photographs are frequently the inspiration for the colors and shapes of my crochet work.

メアリー・フォスターです。庭に咲く花や植物をマクロ撮影し、フォルム、光、色彩、そしてはっとするような細部を捉える作品を作っています。写真の他にかぎ針編みもしますが、毛糸の色や手触りと、シンプルなステッチで美しく機能的な作品が作れることに魅せられています。花の写真が、かぎ針編みの作品の色や形のインスピレーションになることも多いのです。





(2) アーティストになられたきっかけは？

I have always been creative. It must be genetic.

クリエーティブでなかったことがありません。きっと遺伝ですね。

(3) これまでの作品の中で、もっとも気に入られているものは？

My garden. It is a continuous work in progress where I have created an exuberant flow of plant shapes, textures, and colors. The 'Abraham Darby' English rose is my favorite flower to photograph with its multitude of petals and complex color.

家の庭です。未完成ですが、多様な形、質感、色彩の植物を組み合わせて、生き生きとした空間を作っています。アブラハム・ダービーという、花びらが幾重にも重なり、複雑な形を持つバラを撮影するのが一番好きです。

(4) お好きなアーティストは？

These are just a few of many: Sylvia Cosh, Grace Hartigan, Richard Felber, Gwen Frostic.

たくさんいますが、数名挙げるとすれば、シルビア・コッシュ(かぎ針編み）、グレース・ハーティガン（抽象画家）、リチャード・フェルバー（写真家）、グウェン・フロスティック（版画家）です。

Flowers (of course), yarn, family, homemade chocolate chip cookies, jazz.
